About Brilliant & Becoming™

Brilliant & Becoming™ is a reflective healing practice that helps individuals transform life’s transitions, losses, and uncertainties into wisdom, resilience, and renewed purpose. Grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive principles, my approach integrates psychodynamic insight with executive coaching and holistic wellness tools, thoughtfully tailored to support each client’s unique journey.

This is for you if...

If you read that list and felt something move, that's the signal this is for you.

You have achieved by every external measure, and something still feels profoundly misaligned.

You are navigating a career pivot, identity shift, or relational change that has no easy map.

You have been through therapy before and are ready for something that goes deeper or differently.

You are a high-achieving Black, queer, or BIPOC professional who is exhausted by having to explain your experience before the real work can begin.

You sense that your next chapter requires a different version of yourself — and you want support building her.

You are ready to stop performing wellness and start experiencing it.

Words from the Heart

Every story shared here is a reflection of connection, trust, and transformation. These kind words remind us that healing is real, and it’s happening.

  • Since I started my self-work with Yolonda, I have gained a deeper sense of trust and clarity around my inner voice and instinct. She provides the most honest, safe, and unconditional space for true introspection and self-exploration in a way I have never experienced before. Daily, I am grateful for Yolonda and the invaluable support she lovingly provides.

Grammy award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, lecturer, and musical director

  • Yolonda Young-Adisa is an extraordinary teacher who calls upon the traditions of the ancestors to facilitate deep understanding leading to inclusion. Her tactics uncover the ways we are connected, alike, and steeped in our own traditions to bring about incremental change in attitudes and approaches to consider how diversity actually lives in the workplace. Equity becomes the meal shared once the table is set to welcome all...

    Wendy Blackwell,

Fortune Senior Associate, Pretrial Justice Institute

  • ...In the griot's tradition, Yolonda makes every story singular and important by calling forth the voices of Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde, Octavia Butler and others to inspire and pull back the veil of inequity. She is masterful and kind in her restoration and commitment to lead us into healthy diverse relationships. Now, it is a pleasure to take our learning to the next level as she leads the curation of our journey. Utilizing the arts to deeply reflect our equity journey is the next phase of our joy!

  • We were very intentional about who we wanted for a couple's therapist, as we are a mixed-race, gay couple and the nuance that comes with. Yolonda was a rare find and someone who really understood the dynamics of our relationship. She was able to point out blind spots and help us to understand one another more deeply and intimately. We will never forget the work we did with her, and I’m happy to say that we now refer to each other as HUSBANDS!

  • Over the many years that I have known Yolonda, she has consistently demonstrated a strong passion for addressing the emotional and psychological impact of racism, and she has continually worked towards improving her understanding of implicit racial bias and how it impacts the well-being of those subjected to it...

    Gail Benson.,

Quality Improvement Facilitator Contra Costa Child Care Council

  • ...Now, as a clinical social worker; psychotherapist, leadership coach and DEI Consultant she continues to expand that inquiry to include the exploration of strategies for improving the quality of life for people of marginalized communities. Without any hesitation, I recommend Yolonda Young-Adisa to your organization. I believe that you will find her to be a creative thinker, resourceful, and fiercely passionate about making a positive difference, locally and beyond.

Questions? We’re Here to Help.

Questions? We can help.

Whether you’re new to wellness or exploring deeper support, we know you may have questions. Here are a few answers to help guide your next step.

How is this different from traditional therapy?

Traditional therapy often focuses on symptom reduction. R.A.I.N. Sound examines the systems, narratives, and identities that shape your experience. This is depth work, not crisis management.

Do you take insurance?

No. This is a private-pay practice designed to protect discretion and allow for unhurried, tailored sessions without the constraints of managed care.

How long does the work take?

This isn't a 6-week program. Sustainable recalibration takes time. Some clients engage for weeks; others for months or years. The timeline is determined collaboratively.

Is this practice trauma-informed?

Yes. Every aspect of our work—from initial consultation to ongoing partnership, is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive principles.

Ready to Start Your Journey?

If you're ready to move from exhaustion to recalibration, from complexity to clarity, let’s work together.
